Cameroonian writer, curator, essayist and art critic, specialist in contemporary art and photography in Africa. He publishes his first novel, Cercueil et Cie, in 1985. In 1991, with Jean-Loup Pivin, he co-founds Revue noire, a magazine devoted to contemporary African and non-Western art. He creates the Ethnicolor Festival in 1987, then conceives numerous exhibitions and is one of the first to present the works of contemporary African artists on international stages. He is artistic director of Rencontres de Bamako, the African Biennial of Photography, from 2001 to 2007. He conceives Africa remix, presented in Dusseldorf, London, Paris, Tokyo, Stockholm and Johannesburg. He is the first curator of the first African Pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale. He directs the Luanda and Douala triennials. He conceives the exhibition The Divine Comedy in Frankfurt, then in Savannah, USA and finally at the Smithsonian African Art Museum, which brings together 40 African artists around the work of Dante. The exhibition is divided into 3 worlds: Paradise, Purgatory and Hell, in which the public is invited to travel. Simon Njami was artistic director of the 12th and 13th Dak'art in 2016 and 2018. He has taken part in numerous juries and is secretary of the World Press Photo specialist jury, artistic advisor to the Dokolo Foundation (Luanda) and artistic director of the Donwahi Foundation (Abidjan).

Christine Athenor, who studied archaeology and art history, is founder of the international association HS_Projets, which organizes the FITE – Textile Biennial, co-produced by Clermont Auvergne Métropole and the City of Clermont-Ferrand. After a three-year stay in Madagascar, where she takes part in the development of the art history department at the University of Antananarivo, she contributes to the scientific project of Lyon's Musée des Confluences for seven years, as head of collections for Africa, Oceania and the Near East. Together with Thomas Leveugle, she creates the Showroom Galerie 7, which showcases the work of textile designers and artists working in different parts of the world throughout the year.

Thomas Leveugle is a qualified historian of African arts and a member of HS_Projets, the association behind the FITE – Textile Biennial. His academic and professional background has led him to propose conference sessions based on the presentation of mostly non-European material cultures. He designs FITE's collaborative and urban workshops. He curates exhibitions and is co-curator of FITE exhibitions. He creates the Showroom Galerie 7 with Christine Athenor, which showcases the work of textile designers and artists working in different parts of the world throughout the year.

During her studies in Art History and Globalization, she focuses on the formal particularities of non-European textile production. She develops her textile expertise with the International Center for the Study of Ancient Textiles (CIETA) and supports the HS_Projets association since 2018, first as a student researcher and then as publishing coordinator and communication manager for the FITE – Textile Biennial.
